You can take the 221 Bus into Quincy Center Station via North Weymouth right from the gatehouse. From there, you can take the Red Line to all points that the MBTA serves. If you’d rather be a seafarer, you can take the Hingham Ferry from Hewitt’s Cove next to the Hingham Shipyard into Rowes Wharf in Boston. There’s plenty of parking. The park is a scenic peninsula that extends nearly half a mile into Hingham Bay. Recreational activities include fishing, picnicking and walking. The area was used extensively by Native Americans because of its wealth of shellfish, fin fish and wild fruits. European settlers used the area primarily for agriculture until the end of the nineteenth century. Boats depart from nearby Hewitt’s Cove in Hingham to Boston Harbor Islands. In the 1950s it was used to house the missile launchers for a Nike missile site. The missile site was deactivated in 1974, and in 1977 it was transferred to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and work started on its conversion into a state park.
